The annual House Dance competition is always a spectacle, and this year was no exception. There was a real buzz in the room as the Theatre quickly filled up with excited students brightly dressed in House colours, ready to support their housemates.
This year, each House was tasked with selecting a country or region from around the world and representing it through dance. Everyone put in an incredible amount of effort - here are the entries and results:
House 1 chose American dance (a popular choice). They took to the stage showcasing Street Dance which won them the ‘Best stage presence’.
House 2 chose Korean dance, performing a range of styles from traditional to K-pop – the crowd went wild for Gangnam Style! They won the ‘Best creative dance’ category.
House 3 also chose American dance, highlighting line-dancing and cheerleading. Their efforts won them the ‘Best representation of a country.’
House 4 chose South America and displayed Latin dance. Another popular choice that won them the ‘Best choreography’ category.
Everyone delivered fantastic performances, but the overall winner for the 2024 House Dance competition was...House 2!
The standard was so high this year that an ensemble piece containing elements from each House performance will be performed at this year’s Speech Day – we can’t wait!
