The Dance Showcase last Thursday night was spectacular and it was fantastic to see sixty dancers from Years 7 to 13 dancing at an exceptionally high standard. There were twenty-three pieces showcasing a variety of styles from contemporary and lyrical to jazz, tap, and classical ballet, with three of the pieces choreographed by students! Well done to all the students involved and to the Dance teachers who prepared them so well.
Climate Action Day was a huge success and with the girls having an entire day off-timetable, they certainly learnt a lot. There were a number of incredible guest speakers who were so passionate about what they do, and the range of activities available to the students were not only exciting and engaging, but most importantly hands on! Congratulations to everyone involved, particularly Mrs Pashley, whose dedication underlines the School’s commitment to playing our part.
Well done to everyone who took part in the MNDA 24-challenge. The Year 8s had already covered a substantial distance on Friday as they prepared to continue through the night and have already raised a remarkable £4,600 for MNDA, their year-group charity. We look forward to hearing the total distance covered!
Finally, on Wednesday, we welcomed OR Maggie El Beleidi (No.3, 2011-18) back to Roedean to share insights about her career journey with our A Level students in an inspiring discussion which highlighted the amazing opportunities there are in the world of politics. She was also the guest speaker at the Girls’ School Association meeting for teachers of politics, which was hosted by Roedean this year and we are extremely grateful to her for taking the time to return to Roedean and share her experiences.
