Welcome to the Roedean Community Network: Roedean School’s official communication channel for all school news and information. Built to serve all of Roedean’s alumnae community and friends.
Our aim is to build stronger bonds with our community and to support each other throughout our lives. We are building a structure which is capable of proactively reaching out to our alumnae in a number of different ways that reach beyond a school reunion and offer a range of activities to benefit members of different ages in diverse communities. This network is just the beginning, but a vital place to share exciting news and unique stories.
Some people say there is no such thing as a selfless act – that any time we want to do something to help another person, we get something in return, even if it’s just a warm fuzzy feeling.
Feeling good helping someone else is a completely acceptable type of selfishness and can be received in bucket-loads through the Roedean Community Network. Doing something and expecting something back in return tends to lead to more stress than joy, can lead to feeling guilty, or disappointed if the person doesn’t return the kindness and create an internal score card, placing a price on relationships.
Our expectation of what we are getting is what matters. In this place, we would like to spur the spirit of giving without unrealistic expectations. We probably all have one eye on what’s in it for us, at least occasionally. That’s ok, as long as we make an effort whenever possible to do good for the sake of it. You can be confident that those who care about you will give back, or give the gift on and it will eventually loop back around to you.
Fill your profile with as much information as you can and the system will do the work to make suggestions to connect you to your friends. The more information you provide, the more connections we will be able to make.
Connect with alumane who went to the same university as you or work in the same company or industry. The network works best the more information you add it.
You can post an article about anything of interest to you that you want to share with the network. This could be about your work life or about a topic you find of interest. We will help by posting articles we think are of interest and each month, will have a theme to help give you ideas. We’ll happily approve and publish it your articles for you, although we aren’t keen on spam or illegal stuff!
We want alumnae to share their entrepreneurial skills by adding details about the business products or services they have to offer. Perhaps you can even search and find a provider that you need?
