Roedean’s Netball teams across all age ranges continue to shine on the court and it has been fantastic to see so many students taking part and finishing the term strongly.

Particular congratulations go to our U16 Netballers who this month, not only won Bronze at the Sisters n Sport National Finals at Loughborough  University, but also retained their Sussex Cup title.

The Sussex Cup Finals saw them come head-to-head with Brighton College and there was no doubt that Roedean had a nervous start to the match. The opposition kept pushing into the second quarter as they extended their lead by a wide margin, with the score 23-16 at half-time. We continued with a positive approach, grit and determination, and fought hard in the third quarter managing to reduce the gap to 25-30 to Brighton College as we entered the final 15 minutes.

The team worked tirelessly, and we were just 1 goal down with 3 minutes to go and we got a brilliant two-handed intercept which we transferred through the court to a goal taking it to a draw. This gave us the extra push we needed to score from our centre pass as we took the lead in the final 90 seconds and maintained possession until the final whistle. The comeback from the girls really was incredible and an outstanding achievement - they snatched the win 38-37 and retained their Sussex Cup title!

The following week, still on cloud nine from the Sussex Cup Finals, the team headed up to Loughborough University for the Sisters n Sport National Finals. They delivered an exceptional performance against some of the toughest competition in the country coming third and securing Bronze. Their hard work and tenacity has certainly paid off and we are all incredibly proud of them.
