Keeping up with everything going on at Roedean.

School News

We were delighted that so many students were celebrating successes last week in Sports, the Performing Arts, academics, and in enrichment, which really highlights their broad experience at Roedean. Our U16 netballers have qualified for the National Plate Semi-Finals and there were some great victories over Christ’s Hospital. It is fantastic that along with these successes so many girls are enjoying the opportunity to play for the School and there have been some great matches and results for the A – F teams. In Performing Arts, Charlie (Yr11) and Ellen (Yr10), performed brilliantly in the Semi-Finals of the talent competition, Sussex Superstars, and won themselves a place in the finals. Huge congratulations to the students in Year 11 who took GCSE Maths early this year – they all did incredibly well with impressive results across the board.

The opportunities available to the students over the past ten days have been wonderful and it has been fantastic to see so many students involved. From a World War 1 living history workshop for GCSE historians to a ‘Draw and Dissect’ workshop for Artists and Biologists and even a Puppetry Workshop for Drama Scholars.

Congratulations to Mrs Wu, one of our Chinese teachers, who has the been invited to London by the Chinese Ambassador to the UK, to share the Chinese New Year celebrations with him – what an honour. Unfortunately, due to the poor weather forecast for tomorrow, our Lunar New Year fireworks have been cancelled but there are many other activities planned to mark the occasion, and we look forward to hearing about those.
