Students returned to School last week after the Christmas break and it proved to be an eventful first week of term as Roedean was covered in a thick blanket of snow on Wednesday. There were squeals of excitement as the students dashed outside and for some it was their first ever experience of snow! In true Roedean spirit, everyone came together - some waiting patiently for the roads to clear, others changing their travel plans, and a few even boarded for the night.
30 students from Roedean responded to the call out for dancers, actors, singers, musicians, comedians, and magicians, to audition for the talent show Sussex Superstars. The event aims to bring talented young people from the area into the spotlight and following two rounds of auditions we were delighted that six Roedean students had won seven of the ten places in the semi-finals.
On Tuesday we welcomed the Year 9 parents and guardians into School as the students prepare to make their GCSE subject choices - the first step to narrowing their academic path. Our Year 13 students have started to receive some great offers to a range of degree courses with two students already receiving all their offers!
Finally, on Friday and Saturday, we welcomed many enthusiastic students to Roedean for entrance and scholarship testing. It really is a collective effort involving staff across different departments and we are sure that the students will have had an enjoyable day.
