Last week in Chapel, students were encouraged to take advantage of the freedoms they have by using their voices to express themselves. We talked about the Lawrence sisters’ founding ethos – girls should have every opportunity available to boys. This was particularly important following the recent news that 21 women in Afghanistan are no longer permitted to speak in public according to a new law passed by the Taliban.
There were remarkable results from Roedean’s first cohort to take on the challenge of Level 1 British Sign Language. Seven students achieved the qualification after learning BSL as part of the Co-Curricular programme, and five of these students plan to go on to Level 2 over the coming year.
On Saturday it was wonderful to welcome so many prospective families to Roedean for Open Day. It was a beautiful sunny day and a perfect opportunity to showcase all that we have to offer. Staff and students did a brilliant job of welcoming our visitors, who will have no doubt been impressed by what they saw.
