It has been wonderful to welcome our students back to Roedean after the summer break, with some of them just starting their journey with us. The first day of the academic year saw a return to the newly renovated Chapel for our first Chapel service which was led by Mrs Green. She focused on our School motto ‘Honneur aulx dignes’ – ‘Honour the worthy’, and how the students can make an impact on the Roedean Community.
The House Shout took place last week, and as always it was a loud affair. The students filled the Quad in their House colours, singing and chanting in turn, bringing out the very best in House spirit. Everyone did incredibly well, but House 1 were the overall winners.
There were many individual success stories over the holidays, including open water swimming success for both Trinity and Maisa. Trinity (Yr 13) took part in the Brighton Triathlon’s 1500m swim event coming first in the overall female category, despite being one of the youngest competitors! Maisa (Yr 8) took part in the Southeast Open Water Regionals 2000m event in July achieving a Silver medal in her age group. She fared extremely well in the cold and rainy conditions, no doubt the Roedean sea swimming sessions helped with her acclimatisation.
Finally, we are extremely proud to share our Impact Statement for 2023-24 highlighting the huge amount of positive work the School has dedicated to partnerships, bursaries, and charity work over the last academic year.
