Sixth Form Snow Ball
Our Sixth Form and their guests celebrated the end of term in style, with the annual Snow Ball held in Keswick. The outfits and dresses were beautiful, and the high energy music and twinkling lights really set the whole evening off. A highlight as always, was the ever-popular photobooth, which was the perfect opportunity to capture some special Christmas memories with friends.
Inter-House Christmas Decorating Competition
The annual tradition of the House Christmas Decorating Competition is always exceptional, and this year was no different. There are six categories, and the prizes awarded were as follows:
The best-looking Christmas tree – House 1, for a lovely tree, decorated with photos of the students in the House.
The best performance of a carol – House 4, for great singing and excellent use of 7 musicians.
The best tree topper – House 2, for their living star on top of their tree.
The best Christmas joke – Lawrence, for excellent jokes in home-made crackers.
The best atmosphere of Christmas cheer – Keswick, for their festive feel-good factor.
The most festive ODR – House 3, for their excellent story-telling and good use of the space.
The overall winner was Keswick – the Polar Express theme ran through everything they did!
Christmas Fair
This year’s Christmas Fair was a huge success, with students running unique and imaginative stalls, all to raise funds for their year-groups chosen charity. There was live music, delicious festive food, and even a chance to throw sponges at the teachers!
The theme this year was The Greatest Showman, and it was wonderful to see the effort that had gone into the fabulous costumes and decor. The Parents’ Guild were instrumental in bringing everything together, along with the Catering team, Domestics, IT Team, and Housemen, who all helped the whole thing run smoothly.
In less than three hours, the total amount raised was well over £10,000, which is an incredible addition to the funds we have already raised this term for charity.
Carol Concert
At the beginning of the final week of term, we held our annual Carol Service, this year at St Peter’s Church in the heart of Brighton. It was a joyous occasion, with the choir singing beautifully, accompanied by some of our talented musicians.
The church was filled with students, teachers and proud parents, and it was also lovely to have some of our OR community in attendance, all enjoying the beautiful service – it was truly uplifting.
You can view the full service here.
Staff Pantomime
One of the favourite Christmas activities for the students, is the annual Staff Pantomime, which this year was a twist on the Snow White story.
The stage came alive for the enchanting tale of ‘Snow White and the Seven Year Groups’ which featured dedicated staff. The Heads of Year, dressed up as their respective year students, which added a brilliant spin to the story. The audience were fantastic, and the loud cheers, and a little heckling, really added to the atmosphere.
The pantomime was brilliantly written by some of our creative Sixth Formers who did a wonderful job of directing the show, not to mention reminding the staff of their lines!
