Last week saw eighty-five Year 9s and sixty-five Year 10s embark upon an expedition in the Ashdown Forest as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award training. This part of the DofE Award can be particularly challenging physically and mentally, but our students really rose to the challenge by embracing the outdoors, while also developing their strength and resilience – congratulations to everyone involved.

Students from Year 8 and the Year 12 CAP group hosted a wonderful tea party for the Blind Veterans last week, marking the end of an era as we sadly bid them farewell. The Blind Veterans have been our neighbours for 85 years, and as part of our long-standing partnership the Year 8 students have raised £3000 for them this year which they plan to use to buy artwork for their new premises in Rustington.

The Theatre played host to Roedean’s very own Open Mic night on Thursday. There were seven acts in total, performing a variety of different pieces and styles - it was brilliant to see a very different type of show. With both students and staff taking part it proved to be a fantastic event.

Finally, we welcomed prospective families to Roedean for our Open Day, it was lovely to hear so many of them comment on how confident and relaxed our students are. It was a great success, and we were lucky enough to have the sun shining down – the school looked absolutely wonderful.
