After an exciting trip to Hamburg in February, we finally received ten grand and upright pianos from Steinway & Sons. These included a performance grand for our recital space, along with three more Steinway grands for our Music department. Having seen the construction process and toured the factory when in Hamburg, the pianists then had the opportunity to try out and select the Steinway Grands. The pianos were initially positioned in the Chapel, their arrival marked by the most incredible piano recital in front of an audience of 120 students and staff, including Keith Glazebrook from Steinway. It was a real extravaganza with all the pianos being played at once. 

This marked the beginning of our partnership with Steinway & Sons which underlines the School’s commitment to excellence in a variety of fields. Giving access on the school site to Pianos of the highest calibre for all students to play, this will most certainly provide our talented pianists with the opportunity to realise their full musical potential. 

Looking ahead to May, one of the grand pianos will feature in the Roedean Brighton Festival Fringe concert, featuring some of our finest musicians.
