Friday 24 February marked the anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine. We joined the national minute’s silence, standing in solidarity with those affected. We acknowledged the depth of feeling of all our Ukrainian students and their families, and during a very poignant Chapel service on Friday, they shared their experiences. We then lit candles, both as a memorial and as a symbol of hope.
Students from Year 12 led Assemblies last week and created written materials as part of LBGTQ+ History Month. They wrote impressive scripts independently, making the message more impactful and improving understanding and awareness. Well done to all involved.
It was wonderful to welcome 75 students from local schools to Roedean last week, to take part in the Roedean Academy. There is a range of interesting modules available over four weeks, with the aim to bring like-minded students together to enjoy academic challenge. There have been some great contributions from staff, who have been sharing their passions and interests.
At the end of the last term, there were some fantastic international trips enjoyed by three groups of Roedean students and staff. Each trip was a huge success, and saw the different groups visiting Hamburg, Valencia, and Iceland! There are more details and some fabulous photos in the full Head’s Weekly Review below.
