Our students have a very strong social conscience, and they are brilliant at raising money for a range of charities and contributing their time to support our partner institutions.

This year, to build on this, to increase the focus on specific charities and to make the results of the students' endeavours more tangible, each year-group has a dedicated charity partner institution. Each year-group will also have a specific charity event to build towards, in the hope of raising funds for their charity.

This started with Year 11, who this year are raising money for RISE, a local domestic abuse charity. On Sunday 16th October, Eva, Alba, Onose, Liv, Mbali and Yuki, along with five staff members, ran 8 kilometres along the undercliff below School from Saltdean to the Marina and back. They had perfect conditions - sunny with a light breeze - and they all did brilliantly.

Miss Orrells, their Head of Year, has run the race 5 times before, and so she asked for volunteers to join her this year. For the girls that took part, it was the first race event they have competed in on the roads, and they thoroughly enjyoed running alongside the 300 other women in the race. The students did brilliantly, and even won the School Shield. They raised an incredible £630 for RISE through their Just Giving page.

Year 7 will be supporting Rockinghorse, a Brighton-based charity supporting sick children throughout Sussex. They will be taking part in a sponsored silence, and a sponsored abseil from Peacehaven Cliffs.

Year 8 will be continuing our long running partnership with Blind Veterans UK, with a sponsored Visual Impairment. Year 9 will be taking on the i360 Abseil to raise funds for Raystede, a local animal charity. and Year 10 will be having a Sponsored Sleep-Out to support Off the Fence, the local homeless charity that we have been supporting for several years now.

Look out for updates on the girls' fundraising efforts throughout the year!
