To celebrate the start of Black History Month, last week we welcomed Baroness Floella Benjamin to Roedean. Floella spoke to the whole School, and 50 students from local schools about her experiences arriving in England as part of the Windrush generation and her ethos for life. It was fantastic to hear her speak with such honesty and candour.
Last week also saw the launch of the Junior Roedean Academy. As part of the Community Action Programme, some of our Year 12 students will be learning how to deliver activities and share their interests and passions with 80 Year 5 pupils from two local primary schools over seven weekly visits.
In other news, the Art Department had a fantastic week with a painting masterclass, a fashion photography shoot, and the exciting news that Meghan in Year 8 has won a national competition focusing on drawing biological specimens.
