Following on from a few years where Covid regulations disrupted and restricted our ability to hold as many inter-house competitions, this year we are making a focused effort to relaunch regular events for the girls to demonstrate their House pride.
Every Thursday afternoon, during the Activity slot at the end of school day, there will be a House activity, with regular (and incredibly varied) competitions throughout the year. Still to come there will be a Spelling Bee, Cross Country Race, Dance, Maths, Badminton, Problem-Solving, Basketball, Chess, Bake Off, Football, Science, Drama, Aquathon, Tennis and Music. So there will be something for every girl to feel able to participate in.
So far we have held two competitions. The first was a fantastically noisy and enthusiastic House Shout. Each House was tasked with deliveromg a 2 minute chant celebrating their House. Originally planned to take place in the Quad, the heavy rain meant we had to move indoors to Centenary Hall - but this didn't dampen the girls' spirits! All four House Teams arrived dressed up in their House colours to show off their newly devised chants, and everyone had great fun. It was a brilliant way to launch the programme of House events. The overall winner was House 4, who were awarded House Points as their prize.

The second event was House Fashion. Led by the Art Department, each House was provided with colour coordinated bin bags, and given half an hour to create three outfits. The outfits were then modelled brilliantly by Year 7s from each House, who showed great confidence as they strutted out onto the stage in the Theatre in front of a racous crowd of friends cheering them on. The originality and creativity shown in the outfits were incredible, and it was a hard task for the judges to pick a winner. However, it was House 2 who took the prize for their excellent designs, and incredible confidence of their models.
We look forward to seeing which Houses are the champions in the rest of the competitions - and take the valuable House Points.
