We have made fantastic progress with the Take Your Seat appeal, so much so that work has been able to start in the Theatre. The old seating and fittings have now been taken out ready for our fantastic new seats and balustrades to be installed, and work has started on the new lighting system. Thank you to all of our donors and ambassadors who have helped us get this far.
But, we also still have almost another £25,000 to raise before the end of September, so we still need your help! This final third of our appeal target will mean that we can ensure all of the extra elements can be undertaken, and the transformation completed.
We are delighted that the generosity of our donors means that we have sold out the front row, but we still have seats available to sponsor in rows 2-4 for £500 or any other row for £200 (or £250 to include an inscription).
Did you particularly enjoy taking part in the performing arts during your time at Roedean? Do you have treasured memories of supporting your friends from the audience? Or, did taking part in a House Play or other performance help develop skills that have benefitted you in your career? If so you may like to consider sponsoring a seat, or perhaps grouping together with OR friends to name a seat for your year group or theatre production.
We also have two great events coming up that you can take part in to support the appeal. On Friday, we are holding a virtual event on Zoom, where you will have the chance to catch up with former Heads of Drama, Sue Meek and Ginny Whitelaw, to see some archive photographs of previous performances, as well as to hear a bit more about the ways we are transforming the Theatre and the impact it will have on the girls. To register for this free event please go to: https://community.roedean.co.uk/event/former-teacher-catch-up.
On Friday 24th September, we are holding a spectacular showcase evening in the Theatre, where you will be able to be one of the first to sit on the new seats. The evening will feature brilliant performances from our students across music, dance and drama, as well as other chances to support the appeal. Tickets for this event are £15, and all profits will go towards the appeal target. To book please go to: roedeantheatre.co.uk.
