Roedean has recently earned the title of Plastic Free School along with a commemorative plaque after our Eco Council completed the programme set up by the organisation, Surfers Against Sewage.
It is through this initiative that our students have gained crucial knowledge about the impact of single use plastics, enabling them to identify them within our school environment before eliminating them for good. They have also urged local businesses and the government to play an active role in the addressing the pollution crisis.
Surfers Against Sewage is a leading voice in the fight against plastic pollution, urging the implementation of strong policies to prevent plastic waste from entering the environment. They call for businesses to ensure that plastics are designed to be reused, repaired, and eventually effectively recycled.
We are extremely proud of our young ocean advocates using their voices to spark positive change in both our school and wider community while challenging major industries and the government – this is just the beginning of our journey towards a plastic-free future!
