Students were able to choose from a wide range of activities from different subjects and it was wonderful to see how enthusiastic they were to participate. Some of the sesssions enjoyed by the girls were:
Whole Organism Dissection
A small group took part in a rat dissection as their elective choice. While they were initially a little hesitant, they soon became engrossed. The experience of examining organ systems really built on their understanding of organism functions as a whole.
'What I have gained from the dissection can never be replaced by simply observing or learning from photos or diagrams in textbooks. It was a very fun and unique experience for a Friday afternoon!'

'Miss Moore guided us through the whole experience and, although at the beginning we were all nervous, we ended up having a very fun time and got to see the organs we study in lessons in real life.'

Photographic Alphabet Challenge
Twenty-two Year 10 students came to experience photography. It was amazing, that in just 50 minutes they had achieved three outcomes. These were, a whistle-stop tour of the darkroom to make a photogram, experiments with the process of cyanotype, and a collaborative piece to make a photographic alphabet. The students looked for one letter and then went on to edit their photos making a cohesive and striking finished piece!
Life Drawing
The Art department hosted a special life drawing session to show the students one of the aspects of the A Level art course.
