OR Sandy Rudduck (Watson, No.4, 1979-84) is the founder of award-winning condiment company, Scarlett and Mustard. This year, in June, she received the prestigious British Empire Medal in the King’s birthday honours list, for ‘Services to Business and to the Voluntary Sector in Norfolk and Suffolk’.

Launching in 2012, the business now offers a wide range of products that are widely stocked in some of the most notable food halls and retail outlets in the UK. Scarlett and Mustard have won many business awards and countless Great Taste Awards, and Sandy herself has won a number of personal business awards.

In 2017, Sandy became a Board Member of the New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership, and she is a supporter of small and micro businesses throughout the region. Some of the incredible work she does includes mentoring start-ups, delivering sessions at enterprise days for schools, and working with disadvantaged teenagers.

On receiving the BEM she said,

“To be honoured with this award is fantastic, and was such a lovely surprise.  I am very happy to accept it on behalf of all the small and micro businesses which make up the beating heart of the East Anglian economy, and which are so important to innovation, employment, skills and diversification in the region.  I have really enjoyed seeing so many wonderful businesses flourish and grow through my time with New Anglia LEP which has been instrumental in helping them with their growth and funding needs.”
