OR Sailors Drinks Party

Report by Noelle Chase (Thompson, No.4, 1970-75) - ORA Vice President

Alumnae News

The OR Sailors were entertained for drinks at The Royal Thames Yacht Club by Jill Edwards (Parkinson, No.3, 1946-53), a long standing member of the club. It was wonderful to welcome some new ORs to our sailing group. It was the second event for the OR sailors this year, some of them having been out on the water in late April representing Roedean in the Arrow J80 regatta at the Queen Mary Sailing Club near Ashford, Middlesex.

The forthcoming Arrow Trophy Regatta, a sailing competition between Independent Schools, in one-design yachts crewed by former pupils, being held in Cowes on the weekend of 2nd October, was much discussed along with the prospect of other events in 2022.

There may be an opportunity for some non-competitive sailing soon for those who would like to dip their toes in the water and refresh their sailing skills. In the meantime, if there are any ORs with a “Competent Crew Certificate” we would love to hear from you.

If you would like to find out more about OR Sailing please contact Sophia Cheung [email protected].
