After leaving Roedean, Jann (Chin, No.4, 1996 – 2000) studied medicine at the University of Cambridge. She later completed her specialist training in clinical radiology in London and subspecialist training in Australia. Jann currently practises and lives in Kent.
Jann began writing and illustrating books to read to her daughter after she was born. What began as a hobby grew into a passion, and she felt driven to share her stories with the world. Jann enjoys writing about anything just as long as it has the potential to brighten a child’s face, captivate their minds, and inspire them to create a better tomorrow. After three years of hard work, she is excited to announce the release of her first three books, all written for ages 3+.
Didi Dodo is an illustrated story about family and love. The Chicken family have a new baby, and friends quickly gather to meet him. But Didi is not what they expected, and everyone is surprised. The story Didi Dodo was written to teach her daughter about extinction after she asked her, “Why are all the dinosaurs gone?” The story also gently explores the theme of tolerance, an important topic which Jann wanted to introduce to her daughter.
Messy Bug is an illustrated story about a naughty bug who likes to leave litter wherever he goes. Little does he know, the Tidy Fairy has picked up his trail, and she is not a happy fairy. The rhyming story concludes with hilarious results. Messy Bug later returns in the sequel Messy Bug Returns. This time, everyone else is leaving too much rubbish everywhere, and poor Tidy Fairy is all worn out. Messy Bug sees her sorrow and decides to help, but can he redeem himself and make the world right again? The character Messy Bug was inspired by Jann’s husband, who leaves a trail of mess around the house! She wrote the story to teach their children to not litter and how important this is to the environment.
Jann is currently working on her next picture storybook; she has also completed a novel written for 7-9-year-olds, which she hopes to release by Christmas next year.
