To mark this year’s World Mental Health Day and in support of the Young Minds campaign, we encouraged everyone to come to School wearing something yellow to help ‘brighten up the world’ and show solidarity for mental health awareness.

Throughout the week, there were a range of activities and initiatives for students that focused on the importance of mental well-being and combating the stigma around mental health issues. Tutor sessions were dedicated to looking at positive coping strategies for students when they might be feeling overwhelmed, helping equip them with the tools to manage stress and maintain balance. PSHE lessons gave the students the opportunity to learn practical techniques such as meditation and grounding exercises to help navigate anxious moments.

Students were also encouraged to design a logo for our new initiative “Seen, Known, Heard” This reflects our commitment to ensuring that every Roedean student feels:

Seen for their individuality, while celebrating their diversity, successes, and resilience.

Known for who they are—their beliefs, talents, and aspirations.

Heard when they need to speak out—whether to challenge ideas, contribute new ones, or raise awareness for causes they’re passionate about.

The pastoral team at Roedean work together to ensure that each student has at least one key adult in school to turn to for support, which reinforces these principals.

Looking ahead, we are excited to introduce The Wellbeing Hub after half term – an online platform that offers tips and advice on maintaining mental health and happiness at school and home. It will cover various topics, including mental well-being, neurodiversity, friendships, and the impact of social media. The hub will serve as a valuable resource for the students, providing them with support whenever they need it.
