Keeping up with everything going on at Roedean.

School News
It has been another busy week at the School as we head towards the first half-term break of the academic year. Last week saw a fantastic celebration at Roedean of black history and culture. There have been displays around the School, a ‘sound-scape’ of quotations and comments chosen by the girls playing throughout the day, as well as Black History being discussed and reflected upon in many lessons and activities. We are delighted that our event to celebrate Black History Month was a great success.  The event brought ten virtual speakers into our community, giving the girls the opportunity to hear from a wide range of women. In other news, the girls spent time last week focusing on mental health awareness. Activities included looking at the importance of self-appreciation, acknowledging everyone’s strengths, as well as how each student can help contribute to the mental health of others. The comments have been collated and displayed on a communal noticeboard to remind us of our commitment to our community. And finally, it has been great for the girls to be able to play hockey this term. They have been working hard, and all this practice has definitely showed. The girls have also been very fortunate to have Mr Couldrake, the School’s goalkeeping specialist, run Goal Keeper Masterclass sessions this term. Read these stories and more in this week’s Head’s Weekly Review.
