Head's Weekly Review 09 10 2020

Keeping up with everything going on at Roedean.

School News
It has been another busy week at the school as we head towards the first half-term break of the academic year. We are pleased to report that the two adapted Open Day events for Year 7 entry last Saturday went very well. The families who came enjoyed the presentations, and were very impressed by the girls who spoke and performed. We are delighted that last Monday saw the return of Roedean’s Teatime Recital series, and the very first one to be live-streamed. It was a poignant moment hearing our wonderful musicians perform again, and we are delighted that so many people have been able to listen to it. In other news, House 2 Boarders spent last week focusing on mental health ahead of World Mental Health Day. Activities included writing notes for a kindness jar and discovering its ‘good to chat over a cup of tea’. And finally, we are very proud that Roedean is celebrating Black History Month this October. There will be ‘exhibitions’ on display around School, celebrations of black culture, and this week will end with Roedean’s conference in celebration of Black History. This event for the whole school will bring ten speakers to School, all speaking remotely, to discuss this subject from a range of perspectives. Read these stories and more in this week’s Head’s Weekly Review.
