Head's Weekly Review 11 01 19

Keeping up with everything going on at Roedean.

A Happy New Year to you all!  Everyone is settling back into School life after the Christmas holidays. After its launch at the end of last term, the Roedean Academy had its first sessions last week. This programme of academic enrichment was attended by nearly 50 students from Years 10 and 11 at Roedean, Blatchington Mill School, Longhill High School, and Peacehaven Community School. In other news, Alex S (Yr 7) travelled to Inzell, in the Bavarian Alps, where she competed in a speed skating competition. She raced in four distances, and in each distance she earned both a Personal Record and a Season Best. As a result Alex now holds two British season record times for her age group (U14), and is the Youth Ladies British Number One (U14). Congratulations Alex! The Netball Term officially kicked off at Roedean with no less than 85 girls from Year 7 and 8 involved in a competitive fixture last week. Netball Clubs are back up and running and with shooting clinics, Sussex Cup games and a visit from Gold Commonwealth Medalist – Eboni Usoro-Brown looming, Roedean girls are going from strength to strength with their Netball. And finally, last week has been a rather exciting one on the School Farm as we discovered that a number of the ewes are pregnant with lambs!
