Roedean girls love STEM subjects

Four of Roedean's sixth formers, Bells A, Cherry L, Alicia T and Maggie W, were featured in the Sunday Times having submitted an impassioned letter arguing in defence of girls in Physics, following the views of Italian Professor Alessandro Strumia that “women don’t like physics.”  

Professor Strumia’s controversial talk at the European particle physics research centre, Cern, has led to Cern deciding not to extend his status as guest professor.  His argument, that men produce better research than women and have even been discriminated against in favour of women, has been widely discredited by many Scientists.  For the full article click here.

The Roedean sixth formers cited that 36% of Roedean leavers go on to read STEM subjects, with Science and Mathematics subjects being our most popular at A Level.  Will the professor take up their offer of a visit, to see our enthusiasm and talent for the sciences in person?
