Congratulations to everyone who was involved in the Literally Music Gala Concert. The standard was incredibly high, and it was wonderful to see so many girls performing. In other news, 34 children from a variety of prep schools attended a Science Experience Day, hosted by the Science Department, and it was wonderful to see how enthusiastic they all were. As well as sessions in the Chemistry, Biology and Physics labs, the children also experienced the Planetarium in the Theatre, which they loved. All in all, it was a brilliant day!
A Year 8 cast also presented their performance of ‘The Comedy of Errors’ as part of the Shakespeare Schools’ Festival at the Old Market Theatre in Brighton. The girls received an accolade from the Festival Director for their excellent ensemble and comedic skills and for their “impressive command of Shakespeare’s language”. And, last Monday our Roedean pianists took part in a fantastic Masterclass with the renowned pianist and performer, Maria Marchant. The girls learnt about how to take charge of a performance and how to communicate with an audience. The day finished with an informal concert with a few girls selected from the day whose pieces were performance-ready.
And finally, we are delighted to be able to announce the launch of a new 'News of Friends' section in the Head's weekly Review. This section is a chance to inspire the current girls with news of the fantastic achievements of Old Roedeanians. The first to feature is Kirstin Duffield. Do get in touch if you have a story to share.
